So I went out to the fort ross area sunday to find almost glass like conditions. Went up with my wife Tiffanie, dad( Martianfish), Geoff (alameda) his wife Jessica and my buddy Harold.Had a lot of us so I new someone would get something big. We paddled out to about 45-55 fow and started fishing. Geoff starts off with a shaker ling,so its looking good already(fish must be hungry). Then his wife reels up a nice gopher, then i hear my wife say HELL YEA! as she pulls up a fat 20 inch cabbi. Damn I havent even got a bite yet,and Harolds on the radio tellin me about a keeper ling he just netted. So i change colors on my swimbait. Now my dads pickin up nice blacks. This is starting to be a great day(for everyone else).Man i got to get somthing in the boat so i pu a srimp fly above a diamond jig drop it down, bounce bounce BAM! BAM! wow nice bite. I started bringing it up, get up about 25 feet ok maybe its a double of nice fish i think. Then Bzzzzzzzzz line starts peelin off, o sh$t a seal took my fish?start gainin ground and it goes again. Man my barms gettin sore now.finaly get color and say O SH%T!! takes another run and i hear SNAP! man my line just broke, but wait its still heavy? Oh crap! my rod just snaped. But wait the fish is still on pull up one more time and hes in the net,in the boat. WOW! hook came out and hes wiggled out of the net, time to bear hug this pig (Owe teeth hurt but dont let go). Thanks dad for the club even though i missed the fish and clubed my own arm.Nice lump on the arm but finaly hit this guy and hes stopped moving. Now the fish is secure in the boat but wait i have no pole my days done? Thanks Geoff for the loner pole i owe ya one. Great day out gatta do it again guys thanks .

I really wouldnt cry about the rod too much. 25#+ ling. Nice 1st ling. Did you check the stomach? I would bet there's some good octopus for bait in there.

Damn that's a nicce ling man. Great story too.  If I was you, I'd mount that fishing rod with a framed picture of your catch.

Beauty lingzilla there!
& the broken rod? Well, it makes for one sweet fish tale! I've got half a rod at my office, broke it the exact same way as you did, but my fish escaped!

Nice T-shirt too! :smt044
