Fished Bean this morning.

There was a whole bunch of Norcal guys there also.

They mostly fished out front and south, and I went way north.

I got there about 0730 and got ready to launch.

Noticed that I had forgotten all my gear.

Ended up using sockets for weights and a bent up safety pin as a hook (see picture).

Fortunately i had some old anchovies as bait and that seemed to work.

Caught a couple of lings and rock fish.

Nice meeting Sandman.

Good day on the water.

Reminds me when we fished tilapia back home, we use spiral notebook bent and the rest are coiled to make them as weight.. :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

Met up with PISCEAN, FisHunter, BigwaveDave,Eric at 6AM and were joined by more NCKA on 69 at the Bean. The conditions were calm and overcast with winds to 10kt when we landed around 12:30.Saw gray whale spout nearby and fluke around us. I had a great day fishing, landing my second triple play (cablingverm) of the season, a personal best  fatty 24" cab, 31" ling, 19" vermillion and a 17" black.Plus another 17" cab (released) and several other mixed rf (CR) . PISCEAN scored a nice flatty and FisHunter struck again with an enormous lingzilla!!!!!!!!!! Amazing battles with edible sea beasts and LMFAO with a great crew.NCKA is the shizzz!

What is your inseam?

Releasing this fish must have earned my cabbie karma points.

Snuck out for a quick trip to BH and it was good to see most of the usual suspects and some new ones and long lost Friends, Mike (Goutless Angler) and Kent.  It was impress to see what DanMan threw together to catch his fish.  The surf was fairly mild and unusual per BH standards.  Needless to say everyone got out and landed without any incidences.

Fishing was slow but there were a few highlights.  I'll let Adam tell his story and it's all good.  I stuck my personal best cabbie.  It taped out to be a full 24" and at the time Aaron had a PB cabbie that was a half inch longer than mine.  Everyone else had something to take home for dinner.  Smiles all the way around...

As was mentioned a gray whale was surfacing quite close to us and it was cool.

Way to go Dan.  Now people will rush to Goodwill looking for sockets like they did with knives :smt003  Thank you for the report and pictures.
