Santa cruz 8/1

went out of the harbor this morning around 8 and drifted around the mile bouy for narry a nibble. paddled to the deeper water off the light house and trooched back and forth. I caught a star fish and an octopus, sent the octopus back down in hopes of a lingzilla but got nada. kept 1 large gopher and headed into the kelp to see if I couldn't scrounge up some more rockies for dinner after getting thoroughly skunked for 'buts. I quickly found an abundant supply of medium sized black and yellows that kept me busy for a few hours, and nabbed a nice greenling too. met a PB'er with a keeper 'but caught just outside the harbor, didn't hear of any others though. all in all a great day on the water.

I was out there too. I spent my time from the harbor towards Pleasure Point in water from 20 to 50 feet, drifting live sardines and jacksmelt. I got one scratch early on, that was it.
Boy, when the wind came up, IT CAME UP!
