Kiel and I arrived at Miller Point boat launch at 7:45am.  It's foggy and very little wind

On the water around 8:15am.  Kiel's braking in his new T-13

We're heading toward Hog island to catch some live baits

We caught enough live baits for the day wihtin 1/2 hour and trolling live baits toward the deep channel.  Hog island was lively with lots of wild lifes.

It's a gorgeous day on the bay for kayaking.  Saw many touring kayakers enjoying the "perfect" weather for this bay

No Hali love for us today but before headed back in we decided to catch a couple dozens of Smelt for dinner.  I also caught many "unexpected" species,  let's see if you can identify all of them.  :smt003

Nice pictures.  What is that on catch #3?  It must of been dead calm huh.  Nice try guys.  I with I could have joined you, but a blown head gasket kept me home. Did you hear of anybody hooking up?

Quite the artsy shot of the piece of kelp, that might be worth blowing up!

It was a nice day out there, but it would be nice if we caught some fish. I was expecting to put some fish blood on my new t13 but unfortunatelly that didn't workout.  :smt011

By the way nice pics Sonny.  :smt002

Sonny,

Nice report, really gives a feel for a day on the water for those of us who have been off it sooooo long,

Thanks for the pics and reports, I've pulled some amazing things out of Tomales bay myself.

We were using a live sardines and smelt, but i think those are really big bait to use for halibut unless you are fishing in Alaska.  :smt005

Talked to a guy at the boat ramp yesterday, they caught 4 halibut on dead sardines.

By the way nice new Yak!  Hope you had fun popping it's cherry?  By the way I have seen 10 lb Hali's jump all over a large smelt before!  Must be like a snake and able to release there jaws or something!

Thank you Zinful1.  I cropped and rotated the picture up-side-down to make it more "challenge" to guess but you got it right  :smt003 Here is the original one.

I went out of Marconi.  Couldn't make bait.  Talked to a fellow that limited out slow trolling frozen sardines after a flasher.

Guess the bait was up near the island.  Got to learn how to fish this place.
