I would love more updates on fishing in Big Sur, I dont see enough reports. Its my most favorite place in the whole world, especially for fishing. I check this site daily to see if there are any reports only to be disappointed. I like to check the reports before i go all the way to big sur. Maybe the board could have a topic line just for Big Sur kayak fishing. I promise to tell you about my trip in August. I love all the other reports but big sur is my ultimate fishing experience outside of going offshore for the big pelagics. please get the moderator to put up a big sur topic line, so we can get updated big SUR FISHING REPORTS

Interesting. Although, I doubt there are enough people fishing the Sur to warrant its own board/section.
IMO the fishing is always good in that area, so you don't really need to wait for a report w/pics for confirmation.

Fooey.  There are plenty of reports, and until you're contributing your own I don't see why anyone would go out of their way to accomodate your request.  Lately there have been some changes here and it seems to have encouraged many folks to post more - that's a good thing.  So keep posting and give us a taste of your angle on the Madness.

I just read Sur reports from last week and the week before, soooooo? The weather is the biggest factor there as far as I know, and how the swell impacts whichever launch you prefer.

Nothin to it but to go do it. We all get blown out by wind/swell sometimes. Chasing reports is not where it's at. Learn your spots, hook up with those whose style you like, and get on out there.

True, Big Sur is a special place for a reason..........it's remoteness and under pressured fishing. Why would this site help to destroy that? It never will I hope. I don't post every time I fish there, and some of the members here hold closely guarded top secret launch sites in the area. Like it was stated above chasing fish reports isn't the way to go. You must get out and do the legwork and earn the fish from areas such as these. Be careful on your August trip, Big Sur launches can be tricky and help is most likely a long way off in the event of a mishap. Good luck out there

hey Iam just a newbie on this board so it would have been impossible to post. As far as exploiting Big Sur, you are nuts, I absolutely adore the place, so Iam not in destroying something so special. I also have been going to Big Sur and fishing from the rocks during My Cal Poly days in the late 80's. I having fishing with my Zodiac from just about any launch I could and know for sure of its dangers, believe me i have been swamped by rouge waves and Thanked God i was in an inflatable, damn near impoossible to sink. But Over ther years fishing with the zodiac had it set of problems, so i have learned how to use an inflatable kayak at Cape San Martin. Yep I know iam Mr. newbie and have yet to get a real kayak, but have been looking at everything from Hobie to any others. I look forward to the reports becuz it takes me to my fishing fantasy place, where when you cast your line out, you dont know what you are going to get. To me the place is paradise on earth and I would love to fish there every day I could for the rest of my life, thats how much I absolutely adore the place. I never disrespect a place that has brought my family and friends so much pleasure. So if i touched a nerve out of my nebieness, sorry, and believe me i dont need secrt places i already know them maybe better than some of you considering iam 50 years old and have been faithfully fishing the area for over 30 years. I do love all of your stories tho, they bring back all my great memories, thanks again for any reports from BIG SUR !!!!!!!!!

With all due respect, 50 year old newb, I think you just came in with a little funky lingo that threw some of us off.  Saying you check the board daily and then that you're just new here was contradictory, but now I see that you appear to have just discovered NCKA.  Give it some time, learn the names and locales of the members who contribute, watch for the subtleties of communication between the members, and, if you put in your time and actually become part of the community, you'll come to know that there is a limitless amount of information and friendly offerings available here.

And remember, Friend, "Jai Boi!"   :smt003

People on this board are particularly cautious about posting reports about Big Sur. We all have our reasons, but I believe the most common is this: Big Sur is one of our few really productive fisheries for kayakers, because of it's remoteness and inaccessibility for larger craft. Many people are afraid of it's getting too much fishing pressure, and they won't post at all, or post without details, just speaking in generalities. We don't want it fished heavily.

You may or may not agree with this, but please don't take it personally.

Think of it this way: that stretch is remote and mysterious, and fishing it requires a willingness to explore, gamble, and deal with some risks.

You can expect good intel on more commonly fished places. Big Sur is different.

But you're welcome here anyways!   Best wishes
Always willing to join others in the Monterey/Santa Cruz/Half Moon Bay area for a bit of fishing...feel free to contact me.

Thanks guys, Iam really in to learning as much as i can from all of you. I really enjoy seeing all of your posts and completely understand the need for some discretion about Big Sur, especially with how sweet the area is and how remote and i agree with not adding to the demise of such a great productive fishery. I also have to admit what really makes the Big Sur fishing experience is the lack of fishing pressure. We all are very lucky to have such a great place to exhibit our passion and enjoy the great outdoors. I will hopefully get to go out with some of you someday and learning from each other. I have been reading on this website for about a year but just joined so pardon my over exhuberance. I look forward to meeting some of you guys down the way. Oh by the way I usually stay at plaskett creek campground, and most of my experience is in the the south part of Big Sur.

"Tit rock, You will know what iam talking about when see it." Perfect post for Big Sur, give clues but don't draw a map, now that's what I'm talking about. Right on, you're getting the hang of it now.
