My first time at LM.  Arrived at LM state beach parking lot around 5:15am and waited until 6:15am but didn't sea anyone at the parking lot.  Tried to reach someone on CH69 but no reply!  Found out later that they meet at the small shopping "mall" near by (thanks to Allen).  Mooch and John/jdyak launched first while Tom/sirius, Ty/Ty_SuperFishMan, and I getting ready to launch next.  Mooch told us over the radio to hold off our launches as condition is not favorable for fishing out there.  So while we waiting for the condition to improve, we tried fishing from the surf and practice surf launching/landing.  Later Tom went out to join them but no one catch anything except for bait fish  :smt003  I have great time fishing from the surf and practicing crash landing  :smt003

My turn now

I made it out OK (so did everyone, but landing was a different story  :smt003) paddled out to say Hello to Mooch and John then getting ready for the surf landing.  Got a couple practices turning the yak over and  climbed back onto the yak.

Crashed landing twice

Success at last

Later Tom decided to give it a try anyway

No problem with the launching for him

Mooch and John making back to shore OK using the "back paddle" method.  Tom decided to give that a try.  He did fine and got very close to shore but didn't make the last wave!

Mooch's landing a had with Tom's yak

Never see that many surfers out there!  Good day for surfing...bad day for yakking!

We headed over to the Hawaiian restaurant per Mooch's suggestion and the food was delicious.  Thank you Mooch for the hook-up and restaurant suggestion.

Joel, you could have called and asked me about the conditions.

You could also check this site - they update a live pic each morning. http://www.surfline.com/surf-report/pacifica-lindamar-central-california_5013/

Actually looks somewhat benign from the high angle, but 3 lines of whitewater are a sure sign...

Thanks for the report Sailfish. Sorry about the fishing disappointment. Nice job making the best of it and getting out there and practicing surf launching and landing. It looks like it was fun. Not so bad when you are not worried about dumping all your gear.

I am planning on going out there this weekend and this is the kind of report I needed to see and read. I may end up getting there and bailing on the fishing, but taking the opportunity to play in the surf and get some experience under my belt. These things only make us better at what we do.

Please be careful if you plan to land at the very South end of the beach.  Tom got some bruises when crashed landing due to the rocks.
