This is my third time attending the derbies hosted by FW's Eric and boy let me tell you he sure know how to throw "HOT" parties  :smt003  I tried trolling/drifting using different lures, swim baits, and popsicles but did not even get a bite all day and did I mention it's HOT?  :smt004  Around noon time this place turned into a zoo with jet skies and ski boats "flying" around so I called it a day.  Only 2 Stripers caught by NCKAers today!  Sorry no fish pictures this time  :smt009

Sunrise

Eric pulled up around 6:15am

The water was so low!

Heading toward the dam

Found several guys already fishing inside the dam area  :smt003

Trolling around the lake

Drifting with the Dragonfly  :smt044

Too bad about the zoo and the slow fishing, but you've got some beautiful pics. What kind of camera are you using?

I'm using the Olympus Stylus 1030SW.  Taking lots of OTW pictures and love this camera!

Trust me,
If you didn't make this event you were probably better off  :smt005
Did I mention the heat? or the lack of participation from the Stripers?  :smt012
All in all the group was in good spirits and gave it their all - and nobody got hit by a wild Jet Ski.

I would like to take this time to thank all those who have attended an event this year and congratulate those who have placed in the top three for you have truly earned the rank of Pro, Master or King

Seeing people enjoy this great sport and meeting others with like intrests brings me real pleasure.

Thank you all without your participation these event's would not be possable.

HOT, temp wise, slow fishing and i found out the spook baits are two pieces and if you try to knock off the weeds on one you get to keep the smaller piece :smt044. great to see every one again, and i even supported the small guys and picked up some stuff for next weekend, fisherman's warehouse is dangerous for me  :smt003, and i think the hot dogs were bigger than my catch  :smt009

so pat, did you get a striper?  or just largemouth?

i didn't get squat. i got one grab on a rolled shad, but he just pulled the tail off and missed my two hooks.  i went up the narrows, back down around to the dam...nothing

saw some swirls in the morning, but nothing in there biting.  i think the reason the stripers never started boiling at all today was the boat traffic. kept the fish down and uncooperative.  i may take another shot at this lake in the future, but it definitely will not be on a weekend during the day.

I was considering going but Rickey Mitchell had a conflict and when I heard it was going to be hot, I knew it was Flea Circus weather and bailed on the plan. Those reservoirs should be great in the early Spring and Fall when its cold and crisp and the Fleas and Lice have gone into Winter hibernation.

Just my two cents, but tourney promoters should only schedule foothill reservoir tourneys for late Sept-Nov and early Spring.
