ya I have some good ones, tonight I will be preparing it with a sauteed of yellow squash, Brussels sprouts , crispy potatoes and garlic. The fish will be cooked in my cast iron pan with skin on. nice hot pan then olive oil, comes a mmmmmm.... :cook   Golden brown skin with succulent white meat. Finishing it off, I will make a lemon thyme infused olive sauce. this is a original piece of art signed copies for five bucks! :smt003

P.S. that' just tonight's dinner :smt002

The pearl white/orange chin is my favorite too... but the XRap with the light blue back works equally well.  Looking at the line-up it's the 4th one from the left.

and my vote goes to the blue/white...I think I've caught more fish on that lure than any other, except of course my crystal minnow in the same colors

Thank you. I'll get a few of both colors and try them. BTW, what depth were the Stripers? Did you troll over structure or cast to signs of feeding activity or over structure? The reason I ask (besides wanting to learn ;-) is I am wondering if I could use a fast sink shooting head on my 9-weight fly rod like I do at San Luis or a floating shooting head if they are crashing bait or if I can cast for them over structure. The depth limit though is about 25 feet unless you don't mind spending more time counting down than retrieving. It would be fun to mix it up between trad and fly tackle since a 5-pound fish gives a bit of a thrill on a fly rod. Again thanks for the tips--this site and its forums are awesome.

you could absolutely use a sinking head- leadcore or even Type IV or so....most of the fish will be holding in less than 11 feet of water.  San Quentin proper is only 6-9 feet deep, with most of the fish holding mid column.
Large whistlers, clousers, deceivers-- they'll all work.

Typically what you do with flyrod is troll the fly until you find the fish, then cast to them. Around quentin though, you could pretty much just drift off the rockwall, and blind cast.
Other areas the fish are more concentrated (like rod & gun club pilings, Corte madera creek, SR bridge hole)- and you are casting to obvious structure and rips
