glad you nailed one.

I put the same rudder toe pilots on as you, and was wondering if the high cables might be a bitch at some point.  Thanks for reminding me so when my butt comes, I will be ready.

Wiseman say: Tis better to have lap-danced and lost....than to never have lap-dance at all.

Nice job on the Tomales butts. Sturgeon too? That must've been an awesome sight.

Hello,

How do get the smelt and sardines?  Hook and line or throw net?

Thanks.

Sounds like the title of a jane Austen novel. When can we expect the screen version? Sorry about the loss--we've all been there before--but what the Ocean wants it will take and we are gald for what it does give us even grdugingly. You made a decent trade in the end after all--congratulations. I saw the bait tube--I love that way they bump along against the kayak letting you know they are there ;-) Glad to hear you used a Sabiki 'cuz that's the way I like to make bait--at least I can claim I caught _something_ after that. Sounds like Tomales Bay is hot right now.

Eric, great job on the hali's,  :headbang: I hate that feeling when you see your catch slowly go under the water only to disappear out of sight. That happened to me with a net that was to small. :smt013

Thanks for the report Eric.
I put them straight on the game clip/gaff. They can splash around like hell, but they're mine!
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Great Report Eric.

My halibut did the same thing after bashing here between the eyes. Thinking it was dead I put here on my lap (game clip attached) then  she started the lapdance, she danced here way back in the water only to be pulled in and be bashed for the second and finall time. :smt003

Nice redemption on the second butt

How do you tell a Pacific Halibut from a California Halibut?

The accent when they laugh at you  :smt044

Actually, I'll letteh CalDFG tell you: "The Pacific halibut can be distinguished from the California halibut by looking at the end of the jaw. In the Pacific halibut, it extends to the front edge of the eye, while in the California halibut it extends beyond the eye."

Nice work man!  I'm planning on going this weekend.  I'm off to a slow start today, getting things together and taken care of around the house.  I need to redeem my multiple skunks at Tomales last year.

Nice recovery EK. I prefer the gaff over the net myself. I'm with Juan when it comes to buts. I gaff and clip... then, I'll take a whack or two...

Good to see that you got on the water though. It's been a while...

KzReelRods,

New to catching my own bait, did you use a Sabiki Rig?

Was wind and or tides a problem when you were out?

Where do you launch? I live in Novato, thinking of heading out there this week.
