Hey Guys,

I got the green light to do some fishing this Saturday so I'm heading out of the harbor at first light (weather permitting). I'm gonna try for some halibut and if that doesn't work out I'll probably go for rock fish or lings. I'll be monitoring CH 69. Throw me a shout out if you're gonna show.

I'm planning to go out Saturday, New Brighton or SC.  I hope to make it before sun up.
I'll give you a call if I make it out of SC.

Was thinking the same, and doing an 'Ernie' to head twards Capitola or at least around the point.  :smt003  Reports have been great this week from Capitola too, so may just head there and hail you. :smt004

I'm up for a sc trip. Haven't fished that side of the point for awhile.
Daylight launch sounds like a plan.

Maybe a wharf to wharf run.
Leave a car at cap, drive and launch at sc, fish southrock, head back to pleasure and down to cap drifting to the cap wharf.

Fish Flogger,

Thinking of doing SC as well Sat early. Fist time for me. Where are you launching? Where are you picking up the bait? What bait should I get.
I'll be in a green Prowler 15.

Deva, right now I am stuck in NW Arizona am and reading about your first "Hall Pass".  Can't cover the huge amount of miles to get there by 6:00 Saturday but it is ripping my heart out.  Good Luck, I need an update about how you did.  Pat my Kayak as you walk by and let it know I will be returning soon.  I saw large Carp in Lake Powell today and it did make my Rod Arm Twitch.

You can check out the SC Harbor Launch on this map:

You can get bait from Bocie Boy (http://boccieboybait.com/Bait_Report.html), if he has it. Or, bring a sabiki rig and catch your own...I have a cheap, light freshwater rod that I bring for that purpose--it can be a lot of fun fighting several fish at once. Hope to see you out there.

AlgieSwift, nice WSB. They are finally in in numbers this year eh?

I remember trying for a few years in boats looking for them out of Capitola with some old hand fly fishers telling me how good it used to be--we got a lot of rockfish and a few Lings but never a WSB. I had given up thinking they'd all gone too deep and out too far for fly fishing. Looks like I need to get motivated again and stop spending time driving to the High Sierra.
