Any one here ever fished Donner Lake? Tips? I am heading up there is few weeks, my wife is going to swim the lake. I thought maybe of putting the kayak in a trying to catch a few trout.

I am not a fan of Donner lake. My fish/hours fishing ratio is abysmally low in that lake.  That being said, there are fish in Donner lake.  If I catch anything it is usually a Mack or planted Bow/  I drift minnows (check regulations) for the macks and troll dodgers and needlefish for the bows.  I have not tried fly fishing, but the surface activity at Donner is pretty low in my experience.

Thanks for the input, anyone else have any tips or information. I may try to hit up a few creeks around there also.

I think the creeks would be better for fly fishing.  When are you going?  I will be at our Cabin (10 min from Donner) late July and early August.  If you are looking for company, send me a PM.

We will be up August 7th-9th. Drop me a PM if you will be up there. I am used to fishing Yosemite Area so this will be a nice change.
