Tomales Flat Fish

Yesterday I fished Hog Island for a few hours and caught a 30"er on Jack Smelt.  It was in the inside channel in 10' of water.  There's tons and tons of Jack Smelt out there right now. Catching bait was almost as fun as landing the halibut.  The weather was pretty good at first until the wind picked up. I forgot my camera so no action pics but these should do.  Also I'd like to thank Ranger Jim for helping me load my boat.  It was great talking with you and I'll call you soon.  Thanks

Tomales when its windy can suck big time. Once in awhile we are rewarded though with a nice fish like that. Its 20 minutes from my house but I have been blown out so many times it just loses its appeal after time. Congrats on the fish,its a real beauty!

Nice job finding the elusive halibut of Tomales Bay! I've put in a few days over there myself doing the Hog Island drift and never done too well fish wise. Beautiful place to paddle though!

Ya it was either fish Pairadise and deal with traffic (there and back) or fish Hog.  Glad I went to Hog cause Halibut taste good!   Water visibility was murky and probably wouldn't have been good for diving.
