Is there any place to launch on the Russian just downstream of the dam/rec area at Healdsburg?

how far down do you want to go, memorial is the only public launch between the burg and wohler bridge, there is riverfront park on eastside road but thats a long trek and you need a cart and to get to the water is down a good size hill, with poison oak and blackberry bushes, and the water there is pretty much frog water this time of year, and the parking lot at wohler is closed in the summer, so the pull out would be steelhead beach.is it that you dont want to park at memorial, because on the oppisite side there is an access point thats real easy to get to the water, its where i launch in the winter for steelhead fishing, hope this helps, cameron

Across the river from memorial 2 people could carry a yak down to the water. Three of us carried a wooden drift boat down one winter day.

from memorial beach to steel head beach will take about 6 hours so make sure you bring lunch if you decide to take that.

I looked at Mem and if you put in and go to the left side it's a really easy carry over to the left then back to the fish ladder like a big ramp. There is a launch just below the dam but you have to reg with the parks dept and get a key, I have one and can let you in if you like.

mickfish,

Thank you. Its good to know its possible to launch there.

Is there enough flow all summer long for a kayak? I have a good quality 10ft inflatable kayak.

Has anyone fished from Memorial on downstream? I've drifted a section upstream of Memorial and caught small mouth bass.
