Well, managed to get 2 days of fishing in this 3 day weekend, The first trip was Cap and today was MBK, my first venture there.

Hooked up with SCALLEN who was doing a clinic with some very nice people. Got my boat loaded and ready to go. SCALLEN gave me a few tips, a new rig, told me where to go and sent me on my way, and of course he put me dead on the fish! Awesome day and I finally got a limit of mixed rockfish on my kayak! Nice, super stoked and had a very RELAXING time out there, water was PERFECT till the wind kicked up a bit at the normal time slot. Just a beautiful day. All rockfish, no lings, no hali's, but that perfectly fine i love fresh rockfish. The bite was great! Nothing huge, but some good fish in the mix, along with a few smaller fish, threw a few back too.

Anyway, back to Santa Cruz, cleaned my gear, prepped the fish, cooked the fish and FRESH fish sandwich's by 2pm with the wife, our 6 month old daughter watching closely.... Go a ton ore fish for monday night dinner too!

I had a great day, thanks SCALLEN for your tips and rigs and most of all your friendship and SKILLS! I learned a few things today!

Cant wait to get at it again!

PORKY

Thanks for the tips Allen, I really appreciate it!

The pics of your son with the fish, PRICELESS!!!!!
I'm kinda new also and everytime I hook up with members I learn some great tips! It was the same when I had my power boat. I couldn't catch more than a few crabs with 4 pots. Then I met and hooked up with a guy (he wrote the crab tutorial) and my counts went to getting up to 22 in EACH pot! Fishing clubs are one of the keys to great (and safe) fishing trips

Alright, Porky, nice stringer of fish! I know you were due that haul. Location, location, sometimes that's what it comes down to. I knew if you fished Monterey you'd find the rockies. You had sounded a little discouraged in your last couple posts. WTG!

Now that I finally came down to The Bean and Linda Mar I have to get down to SC and MB and fish. The whole vibe down there is great. It sounds like you had a great time on the water. Gotta love those kids. My 21/2 year old gradaughter had fish tacos sat night and loved em'. Againg congrats on the fish and the family.

Nice shallow focus in those pics. Looks like a food magazine!
