Domenic and I hit the water today for a dawn patrol ab and fish mission on the -2.2' tide.  The forecast was 10-20 knots and a low swell.  Where we went it was more like 20+ right from the get-go.  I Roleezed one of my little rides, my "hotrod", down the beach and got to paddle around in a protected cove where we searched zero-vis mud water for old growth abs.  The hunting was extremely difficult today due to the mud, the surge and the frigid water temp.  We ended up tag-teaming a 9.5" - lucky Dom had his stubby iron or we wouldn't have gotten that thing out of its hole.  I soaked a little squid and ab gut for a greenling, but nothing else bit.  The sun came out on the walk back up the beach and we enjoyed taking some photos and taking our time.  I had to work in the afternoon, so Dom enjoyed a couple of beers on the trip home and we parted ways on another excellent outing.  Thanks for hooking up, Brother - I'll look forward to next time.   :smt001

Nice ab. Two words: "abalone parmesan!"

Congrats on the abs fellas. No kidding about the water clarity you guys had. It is
almost like our bay water during the summer months.

Right on, Abking!  Nice report and pics as always.

I'm watching the weather for a good window of opportunity to come and visit your waters.  4th of July at Shelter Cove is a remote possibility but more likely sometime in August.  For some reason, The Cape is never far from my mind.
Fishing is cool

Looks like a great day you guys. Minus the wind it looks like it would have been pretty flat.

Nicely done Abking and Domenic. I think it is reports like this that get us off of our couches when we think the weather is too bad to do anything. You need some ghost flames on that hotrod  :smt044

Thanks again for sharing,
Ray

Who says you need a load of fish to have fun?

Great pics AK.
I know what you mean about the hotrod. Little yaks can really be fun when you are used to one of our 65lb vessels.
