What a beautiful place to fish. This was my first time out there and the weather was great and the company was even better. Phil, thanks again for picking up the shiners for us. Sonny, you are the man. The radio was constantly keyed up with "Sonny Has A Fish On"!! We even joked in the parking lot that you were the one to follow. My hat is off to you sir.

I got one scratched bait today and that was it for the live shiners for me. I need to get an aerator or a better bait bucket to keep those guys alive. My brother Gabe was fortunate enough to land his first hali, but struggled with the small stringer I gave him and it lives to fight another day. I did however snap some photos for proof.

Thanks guys for the great company on the water and the laughs,
Ray

pheweee. I put in a full shift on the water yesterday, 8am-4pm, for one stolen bait and one scratched bait.

Now I have to spend all day doing actual work to make up for it.  :smt011

Potentially useful info for those making the trip this weekend.

Sonnys rig is the simplest version of the three way, no stingers, flashers, nothing
Small (sz 2) light wire hooks keep your shiner shining for longer
The weather was really good, considering the forecast. More sheltered conditions were to the north.
There was a flock of pelicans working bait near the point to the south where the depth drops off.
A few halibut came over the pier rail
Keep an eye on those PB's. I saw more than one boat which had >1 line per person in the water. Maybe they just don't know the regs. A gentle word on Ch 68 might save them a big ticket and save some fish for the rest of you.

well had a great day yesterday watching sonny clinic us all again, way to go sonny. it was nice to meet some new faces, raydog, gabe, also northernboy, eric b and eldorado. saw eldorado pull in a nice hali to add to his striper, nice one gaberial. i had only one good hit for the day, it hit the shiner hard and i set the hook to feel weight for about a second then nada, reeled in and the shiner was cut in half, short take that missed the stinger. oh well next time. here are some pics

Thank you for all the kind word guys.  I really enjoy being OTW fishing with NCKA'er.

Phil,

Thanks again for the Shiners.  Keep it up and you will catch a nice Hali before returning to the UK :smt001

Sonny that is just crazy cool. When do you want us to come over for halibut? :smt003 Did you use the net or gaff on the big one. I know that you succeed because you always have a smile on your face and a kind word for all. Karma comes back to you in the form of halibut I guess. Now you found your new occupation, kayak halibut tour guide. :smt006

Craig,

I netted all my Hali after snapped some pictures and determined that they're above legal size.  I don't use gap unless it's bigger than my net  :smt003 :smt007

I think your secret is out.  Just arrive later than everyone else.  get in the water and leave with three fish.  easy and simple :smt003

There's another secret and please don't tell anyone...try to eat something and pretending that you don't pay attention to the rod   :smt003  Works for me  :smt044

This was my first time out on the water for quite some time. Finally healthy enough to go out again, and did it feel good. The fish gods were quite kind to me too. Not as big as Sonny's toads, but I'm not complaining. It was a great day out there. The winds were completely backwards, it got calmer as the day went on. Very strange. Couldn't believe the plastic armada out there during the week. Don't any of you guys work?  :smt005 Sheez! Thanks to Areial's generosity, giving me a few frisky volunteers, they were put to good use. My first day back, I was happy to quietly be on the water again. It's been killing me to watch all the others get into em. Nice to get in on some this time. Here's a pic of my hat trick.

Very nice Sonny. Well deserved fish. BTW, I think now is the right time to
change your screen name to HALIBUTKING. What do you think? I'm sure
everyone will agree. :smt003 Congrats again on the limit of halis.

Good to see EricB with his halibut and to all that caught fish.

What time are you going to be there?  I'm checking the wind condition for tomorrow right now.  If I go, I can loan you the paddle.
