Thanks for the report and sharing some awesome pictures hydrospider. Yup, that
is the Sierra weather for you. The weather could be in the high 90's and next
thing you know comes the thunderstorm and heavy rain then comes the sun back
up again.

WOW, another fabulous report Terry.  Those beautiful streams really got my heart pumping. :smt007  :smt007

Do you guys strictly fish lures or do you do bait too?  I saw mostly lures but saw some guys fishing water I'd have never thought to use lures in.

Our standard weapons of choice are the panther martin and the thomasbouyant cyclone.
Used both in the streams and lakes. On that last day I tried a flasher/crawler combo in lower twin for a big brown but only fooled the bows. The t-bouyant took 7 and the crawler combo took three and they were the smaller fish.
Using bait in streams is too high maintenance for the style of stomping we do and its easier to injure fish that we want to release.  We did witness some anglers with crawlers in the streams taking big fish. The white water is challenging to fish but I think one of the factors in our success up there is that we fish where most dont.
Would appreciate a little intel on the navigable sections if you don't mind. I may be up that way again this July, but suspect the water will be too low. I always respect requests to keep this or that unpressured secret spot out of the press.
Anyway, good on you guys for your epic traditions!

please feel free to contact me before you go and hopefully I can save you from some painful portages. Just be warned green creek is strainer central.
we were actually inspired to try the Owens after your report but it was just too far off with so much prime water close by. another time.
I totally appreciate your consideration in the preservation of these waters. While none of them are secrets I still hold them dear and would hate to see them completely bombarded.

I can only take half of the credit for the documentation. AztecKayak was always at the ready for the photo op so TBP would have a solid report. thanks again Shirk

Beautiful report, sometimes I forget that saltwater isn't the only water, haven't spent time in areas like that since I was a kid,

Thanks for taking the time to put it together, I enjoyed it,

Wow! What a beautiful range of waterways. You guys must have been able to reach some near virgin water. Looks like you got to sample some of the best the Sierras have to offer. Wonderful scenery and beautiful trout. Great report.

Hydrospider held nothing back. He paints a great word picture for year 16 of TBP and it was a memorable one.

Every year is a little different except for hanging out with my best friends, fishing, kayaking, and playing cards.

I hope I get to do it for decades to come.

Wow! Great report and beautiful photos.

I love the orange and gold thomas buoyants.  They'll catch trout when nothing else works.

Jumping into that barely above freezing water is insane!  I did it once and almost couldn't breath.

Like they say.... if you don't like the weather in the Sierras, just wait 10 minutes and it will change.

Breutiful report man. Sure brings back some good emmories of fishing that area w/my dad. Had one of my best days at Green Ck about 6 years ago. Running from a bear at Upper Twin.... And the Virginias have always been good to me. I've been itching to take my yak to Leavitt Lake, after fishing it from shore and alum boat....some big fish in there.
