Went out to Pyramid Lake yesterday to try my luck on some cutthroats. Hooked the downrigger up on the Hobie.  I had some good luck about a month ago fishing at about 20'.  So decided to start trolling there.  It didn't take long for my first hit but it didn't hold.  Soon I had my second, a small 15"er.

A 16'er soon followed, but that was it for a while.

A bait ball on the ff, I usually catch a fish around one.

After a long drought, I drop the DR to 40' and catch one around 18".

One more fish around 20" and heading back to the car I get one more hit. I had to work for the fish today.  I'm going to give it one more try on the east side of the lake next weekend before my knee operation.  It' a lot harder to find a launch point on that side.

Congrats!! Thanks for the report. Where did you launch from? What were you using?

I'm up in Reno this week visiting family and was planning on getting out at least one day to hit either Tahoe or Pyramid--still undecided. I've had some luck shore fishing at Pyramid in the past, but haven't taken the yak out there yet.

is that an Ego net you're using?

I launched just north of Warrior Pt. on the West side of the lake.  Take the road north to where it turns to dirt and then head to the lake.  I caught all the fish on a gold 1/4oz Thomas Bouyant. Not an Ego, it does have a rubber mesh which is suppose to be easier on the fish and also doesn't tangle up the lure.  Haven't fish Tahoe out of the yak yet another possibility would be Stampede Res.  There's been some pretty decent Macs and kokes taken out of there this year.

Those are absolute beauties Tui Chub!  Doesn't Pyramid have special, weird regulations?

Thanks for the info! Thomas Bouyant, eh? I don't I have any of those--sounds like I have an excuse to run to Cabela's tomorrow...  :smt002

Yes, I'll have to double-check before I go, but I think it used to be under 17" and 20"-24" inches were nonkeepers, with 17-20 and over 24" being keepers...but only one of your two fish could be over 24. No bait. Can't recall if barbless are required.

Correct, but the measurement is to the fork of the tail not the tip.  It is barbless and you can't fish with more than two hooks, either two single hook flies or lures or a single two hook lure.  Hooks can be single, double, or treble (all barbless).  Also you can only use one pole.

Here's a synopsis of the fishing regulations.
