Left Redding late Monday morning and arrived at upper Hat Creek around noon. Fished my "spots" all afternoon using ultra-light spin gear and salmon eggs for 12 planters 8-12 inches, kept 2 nice ones. :smt003 Set up camp at my "Secret Spot " no charge camp creek side, cooked up some man dogs and beans for dinner. Fished and drank beer till dusk, 3 more caught and released :smt001 Hit the sack and watched "Into the Wild" on my portable DVD and fell asleep.

Woke early Tues. morn, started the coffee and before it was done 2 more trout released. Coffee and donuts for breakfast and made the 15 min. drive to Baum lake for the morning bite from the kayak. Hit the water at 7:30 and the fish were rolling and jumping all over the place. First cast of the day fish on :smt003 second cast fish on :smt003 :smt003 and the Red Hot Bite continued until about noon. Throwing small spinners, Mepps and Roostertails I must have caught 30 fish all planters from dinks to 15 inches released most and kept 3 nice ones :smt003 :smt003 :smt003 Off the lake by noon and drove back to my secret camp spot for lunch and cleaning fish. Fished the creek some more, drank beer some more, ate dinner, drank more beer, watched "Tin Cup" on DVD
and fell asleep.

Woke early Wed. morn., headed back to Baum Lake for a repeat of Tues. red hot bite. Same story, many fish, I lost count, ended up keeping 5 nice ones. I focused this day on trying to get video for my report, lots of good footage, used auto movie maker to tie clips together and this is what I got, hope it works! Got off the lake at noon packed up and headed home reeking of trout :smt002

Well here's the Video, not up to Abkings production quality yet as this is my first Video Report.
Enjoy, I did :smt003

That's sweet Tad, way to get 'em.  Baum is a great lake and holds some real dandy's.

I'm working in Mt. Shasta tomorrow and was going to throw the yak on the truck for an evening Siskiyou session, care to join?

Thanks for the report, pics, and video BANJOTAD. I love that place. The old pump house in the background of your video brings back fond memories. My folks were just up there a few weeks ago camping at Cassell. They nailed them at Baum Lake as well.

Two vids in one day!  Someone's got the video bug.  You're ready for slo-mo on those splashing trout shots, Dude.   :smt002

I'm a bit concerned about your editing though - when your legs start looking like a nude sun-bathing surfer's ass you may want to hit the "split" and "delete" buttons!   :smt044

Nice report, Banjotad. Good job on the planters. Reading your report reminds me of some of my solo fishing/camping trips.
