Henry Coe is a state park, all start parks prohibit hunting (and firearm). Most wild life areas close to bay area don't allow rifles. Night hunting (best time to get 'em) is illegal in California. Hunting over baited area is illegal in California. Killing a pig with a knife is illegal in California! (In Texas, killing a pig with Bowie Knife is quite popular)
The going rate for rifle hunting in private land is $500 and up now. If you can bow hunt (with much smaller chance of success), the lowest is still like $400.
The best prospect for pig hunting in CA is Camp Roberts and Fort Hunter Ligget. CR only opens a few weekends a year, FHL opens every weekend while there is no training. Even the best prospects on the best days only yield a few pigs a day for sometime hundreds of hunters.
If you have some good dogs, then the chance of getting pork on public lands go dramatically higher. But those dogs are of special breed, and you have to be prepared to lose them... Boars when cornered are extremely dangerous...

hi this is skyboys wife.I just have to reply to leonys' post.It sounds like you know alot about hunting.WOW, well there are other less violent and calculated ways to hunt.I am not really sure where you have hunted for boar but I have seen them 500 at a time all day long and around the corner 200 more .Night hunting is illegal unless you have a depredation permit, and actually early morn is a great time too.Suggesting a state park would be asking a sheriff to throw you in jail with a large man named bubba. We did live on a ranch 1000 acres peacefully with all of these boar and our dogs.yes some people train their dogs to corner pigs, whats worth more mans best friend or dinner. For those of you who strictly trophy hunt for the thrill of it...I will try to keep my opinion to myself while my husband is providing food for his family
PS.Don't be stupid leave your dogs at home, they are not disposable or edible
