Let's face it, we consider the Halibut at the top of the food chain but in reality, if we caught a WSB, we would be as excited as you.  That and a YellowTail are near the top in the shallow water.  Congratulations, I am in awe.

It's just a bigger croker  :smt005

Congrats man, pretty rare to catch fish around SC much less a WSB. Come to think of it, there's been quite a number of success at SC this year.

Freaking A dude, I am stoked for you. I was just getting ready to swear myself off this place for a while. Now I must say you have changed this. Nice going.

Thanks for the great post and picture, not to mention story!  Great job and just proves that you can't catch fish in your EZ Chair, and once you are on the pacific, anything can happen!

great report,  :smt001.

I agree with zinful, if you get your line in the water a bunch, with a bait on it, something will eat it and sometimes it is something like this! even in capitola/santa cruz.

I surfed 4-mile on 6/6 and the water was amazingly clear despite the south swell. I could see 2lb perch below me while sitting on my board in the lineup (!!).

I saw boats drifting 4-mile beach for halibut and you can see the bayside report.. I thought that with the clear water, even with the swell they might have some good luck.

so looks like 3,4, and 5 mile are options for halibut fishing too now.
