With the conditions we are having no self respecting kayak angler should have any excuse to not be on the water, me included. With that in mind, Wdwrkr and I headed north, not to Alaska, but to Shelter Cove.
The conditions weren't great the whole time, but if you spent your time on the water you were sure to get what you came for, weather-wise and angling-wise.
The place is a gem in our backyard!
The pics tell the story.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Here are a couple more pics, when the ocean lays down like it did you just have to go we had a mission to fulfill in more ways than one. To catch three species of fish and fill our larders for the coming months ahead. I have not fished the cove since they quit renting skiffs it didn't disappoint then and it didn't now.

Sledge, we spent 2 1/2 days there, about 20 hours on the water.
It's 100 miles from Willits, just under a two hour drive.
I saw black cod busting on bait topwater!
We also made friends with West, a newcomer to yak fishing.

This may be the first time I've ever wished I lived in Willits haha. That's a nice short drive to the promised land from there. You're lucky Juan. And something tells me you'll be spending more time there this season. Yeah, I'm just jealous.
