After driving to Pardee friday nite and working all day it was good to just be in the relaxed mode. No reason to huury and we all agreed to just wake up when we did and then get going. We had the first site in the campground. Bring lots of cash if you go there.$20 a night for camping. Got a second car give up another 10 bucks. Want to launch? Thats another 4. OH, you want to fish too? Another 4 semolians. Now get your kayak checked. ( no Charge, no shit?).
After coffe and oatmeal and putting out tackle together we launched around 6:30am. Ben and John had some hot intel and went straight to the spillway. I followed and started throwing that roostertail from the last trip. Immediately caught and released a nice 15 inch fat trout(with its tail). We worked the ne wall to the south. Investigating structure and points. We saw some huge Lm Bass up to 24inches. I marked trout all over at around 60 to 20 ft in the main channels. D9own by where the lake turns to the mokeullme arm I caught a nice smallie on a crayfish imitation. Thanks ben! If not for these we would have had less fish for sure. The first day I ended up with 3 trout and 1 smallie. The last trout a real nice 16 inch fish that was a native fish I believe. Very bright silver and a full awesome tail. Over 10 hours in the saddle. This lake has tremendous possibilites. Not really knowing where fish are holding and just what to use was part of the fun. We turned around to start working our way back by the big cliffs on the south side of the river arm. Over 250 ft deep there. Kokanee marking the FF everywhere. Had a great dinner that couldnt be beat and the hot showers there are really nice. I got my 20 bucks worth in hot water. Oh yea. The lake is full right at max it looked like. Day 2 started a little later and we all headed off to a spot that we wanted to check out. I ened up with 1 fish. A real niceLM at around 16 inches and full of gusto. Crayfish imitation got them again. We will be back and if I ever do, I'll bring more money cause all I want to do fish . And make a wish :smt006

Cool, what a cute bird . . . the woodpecker, that is...  Why was it so tame, was it a fledgling?

Great pics, sounds like a good time.  :smt004

Thanks for the cool report and pictures Craig. Sounds like a very relaxing weekend.
BTW, how was the weather there? I just got back from Sonora and it was in the
90's on Saturday.

Fishing and camping at Lake Amador requires a lot of cash too, but the fishing is very good. never saw any kayakers there during the times I was there.

i agree about the price of pardee $$$$

that is really the only knock on the lake that I have, its so darned expensive to go there everytime.  i used to go more often, but now like a little more variety.  if i went there more often I'd probably just get an annual pass which is fairly affordable.

they have great facilities there, floating bathrooms everywhere, clean shorelines, clean & clear water (maybe a little too clear), no water skiiers, good trout and bass fishing etc.  I guess the cost is part of making such a nice lake.  no worries about poachers as there are rangers everywhere, although they are a bit restrictive (like they require you to wear waders if you are in a float tube, etc)
