Just got back from the Oregon coast.  Their state parks were well maintained and beautiful, and still FREE.  Oregon does not even have a sales tax.

Didn't California just raised our sales tax to close to 10% and jacked up state park fees not too long ago?

my guess is that the parks wont close at all or only briefly. i'm not gonna sweat it til i show up and the gates are locked. then it will be time for the boltcutter revolution.
p.s. oregon has ridiculous property taxes.

This would cause too much of an uproar to stick and it wouldn’t take much imagination to fix that one

Technically kayaks aren’t even allowed on state park beaches The only reason we’re still able to launch is by the good graces of rangers who being outdoor types have for the most part been simpatico over the years

If you’re launching one of those beaches and they come along the call is theirs and park lifeguards can also deny you access

Imagine what’ll happen when somebody’s yak gets away from them on one of those beaches and hurts somebody’s kid(s) or even a dog

All of those access points will go away in a flash and that would stick permanently

Does that mean surfing is allowed by the good graces of the rangers too? Or does it just apply to yaks?

Thanks for the info Bluekayak. Most of the state park rangers up here are pretty easy going too.

They have talked about this a year or two ago and nothing happened.

I am not too worried. Yet.
