Hello everyone,

Brand new to this board! I found it through a Google search while researching anything and everything related to fishing (and rigging) from my brand new (well, used but new to me!) Malibu Two.

I live in SF, and took it out fishing for the first time this past weekend, launching from a friends place near Mill Valley. Promptly made some mods to my milk crate etc., and can hardly wait to get it out again. This seems like the only way to fish!

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a good spot to go camping, where I could take along the kayak and do some fishing as well. It would have to be EZ Mode since there will be young children along. One of them is begging me to take fishing for his first time. (Zebco shop, here I come...) Ideally it would be within 2-ish hours of SF.

I was thinking about Clear Lake State Park, but have never been there before. Reports seem to indicate that there is not a lot of privacy at that campground, and I can imagine a ton of yahoos zooming around the lake at 90mph in bass boats. Anything a tad more remote and idyllic, that you'd be willing to share?

Timeframe for the trip is mid-August.

Thanks,

Kook

I just came back from clear lake last memorial day camping, Clear Lake State Park is open to public, but you have to make a reservation at www.reserveamerica.com, They have a nice clean facility, easy boat launch, theres a designated swimming area and good fishing, it is true that theres a lot of Bass boat zooming around, fish Creeks and keys and you will be fine, If you need more info feel free to pm me, Thanks

How about lake sonoma, nice lake, good chance of getting catfish, bass and panfish for the kids.

Blue Lakes just above CL is a kids dream.
