A Late post, but I got a pic at least!
Fished aboard the Apollo out of Santa Barbara harbor on an annual trip with a bunch of SB county guys. This is always a fun trip, regardless of the catch.
Our trip was supposed to have been on April 10, but it was resheduled due to weather. Our reshedule almost cancelled as well, with gale force winds in the channel. We were on the tail end of the weather pattern, but still got caught in some wicked winds. The captain decided against a channel crossing & so we fished both sides of Pt Conception for rockfish. First drop of the day I got a legal ling on a live sardine. This was the biggest fish in the boat until we fished a shallow (70ft) spot at the end of the day, which produced an 11.5lb lingcod and a 9lb cabezon (the biggest cab I've seen).
The food & service were good, but I'll tell ya, hauling 16oz of lead up 280ft about 30-40 times gets old. I was wishing for a calm day in my kayak by the end. I've got fish in the freezer though, so the work was worth it (heck, any work that includes beer at 10am can't be bad). Saw a fluking humback on the way back for a bonus.

A report that's almost 2 weeks late is unacceptable (j/k)  :smt003  Better late than never!  Sounds like a nice fishing trip.  Thanks for the report and picture (next time remember to add 1 additional picture for each day you're late)  :smt005

We don't care if the fishes were yours or someone else's.  Just about any fish pictures on the trip would give us wet dreams  :smt044

I should add that I haven't been on too many day boats, but I really liked the Apollo. The bunks were nice & clean, with not a trace of "fishy-ness" belowdecks (considering they do back-to-back trips for weeks at a time this is HUGE). The crew are very proud of the vessel. Great breakfast burritos in the am with Pete's coffee, & a nice greasy burger for lunch.

Total haul for the me was a few verms in the 3-4lb range, 2 starries, 1 yellowtail RF, 2 boccacio to 4lbs, & the 1 lingcod.

I mostly used live 'dines on droppers.

Sean, nice post.  Nice picture, too.  That photographer was really good.  (Ha!)  I like the Apollo best of the charter boats that I have been on.  This was one of the more adventurous trips that you and I have fished on, though.  You didn't mention that while we were in 280 ft. the the wind was blowing probably 15 to 20 knots with the spray from the whitecaps drenching those of us fishing in the stern!  I was thinking I needed my heavy weather gear, but we were still catching fish.  No white seabass this time.  They are starting to show up at the Channel Islands more frequently now.

Sounds like a fun trip, caught fish despite the wind.
If the boats up here were as nice I probably wouldn't have gotten a kayak for fishing.

Nice ling.Sounds like a fun trip and a decent boat with a galley, something few boats around here have.
