NON YAK FIRST LING OF THE YEAR

   A little tired to take out the yak . So me and a friend braved the wind and cold yesterday for a few drifts not to far outside the harbor in monterey bay. near the red "X" .  beautiful day despite the wind.          Tight lines!  Bulldog

Nice catch Bulldog whenever you go on a Party Boat or Someone else's PB it's a goods idea to take your GPS if you have one, those #'s might come in handy someday.

Yellow eye?

Those do look like yellow eye.

at least the one on the left!    maybe he let it go (lets hope)?

neither were yellow eye. a yellow eye has a more distinct outer ring on the eye that is yellow and a smooth chin. these both have sand paper like chins.  I only kept the ling. Keep only what you need!!

Ok I have just never caught a verm with a stripe down its side,so i got a lil confused.

 . I went to the d.f.g. web sight and purchased a picture id of rockfish. it is very helpful
