Caught two @ 10 and 12 lbs today fishing shallow off Santa Cruz. Fished those new sardine patterned storm baits. Things are definitely starting to pick up around here. I have a feeling its gonna be a good year for halis!

Are you catching them from a yak or from shore?  Thanks for the lure tip and the report.  Some pictures of the fish would be great.

How are you fishing the stom baits. Are you fishing them straight to your line or are you fishing them behind a three way with a little more weight. any help would be great. I am going over tomarrow early in the am to miss the wind. I looked at the wind gauge at capitola at this time of the day and it said only 2 miles per hour.

It will definitely be blowing harder than 2mph tomorrow afternoon. That wind gauge may need some adjusting or is in a somewhat-protected spot. Because right now the nearest buoy (number 46091) says WNW wind at 9.7kts. And there were gusts to 25kts yesterday afternoon. Probably a good idea to go early if possible.

I think those Storm swimmers are best fished with light tackle and no additional weight. Not sure if that's what Brendan was doing...but he did say shallow, so I doubt he was using a 3-way swivel and/or additional weight.
