Hey Mooch, check out Mako spearguns. I bought their Predator 90and it's outstanding. Save about 70 dollars and the quality is just as good. They are made by the same people as Rabitech. The 90 is on the big side for NorCal vis. Get the 75 or 80 and you will love it.

Been reading some really good reviews on the Evolution....just want to see if anyone here uses one? A few divers (they were doing some test firing in a pool) mentioned the fact that the gun comes out of the box with out having to do any modifications.

But I will check out the Mako as well - thanks.

What happened to all the blabbing about learning the polespear before you buy a speargun?  You've only been diving twice.....I know you didn't get your blackbelt in polespearing after 2 trips.   :smt003

explain?

The evolutions are notorious for a bunch of problems.  The most notable of which, is the mechs failing.  Not good.   :smt013

If you want a list of the other problems, shoot me a PM.

I'll get my pro-status in pole spearing once I can spear a perch that's eyeballing me or when I can hit a banana on your head...while your doing the macarena (Angel told me it's you favorite song)

Your first try did not go so well grasshopper.

holy crap....I just remembered.  You didn't want to use the gun cause you couldn't stretch the bands back to load up the spear.   :smt044  You been doin a little upper body work? Pilates rubber band style?  :smt003

I own the Evolution and Mako and will have both at GMS III. I thought JTF was going to buy the Evolution but I haven't heard from him. I bought a used very short Riffe so I may sell both my railguns. They shoot extremely well but I want money to buy a WSB gun.

Mine's behaved well so far, but should the mech crap out, I assume that a grip/mech from another aluminum tube euro/rail gun could be refit?

90cm evolution is my second gun. Problems with the mech shortly right off the bat. Had it sent back so hopefully it'll be good once it gets back. Other than the mech problems (which really suck when the fishes are around), I find the gun shoots and handles very well. I have small hands and the ergonomics seem to fit well with this gun. My current gun is a rob allen, which feels much beefier and sturdy.  The rob allen mech is smooth

if the line drop snaps off the HH evolution you can order an "old style" Rob Allen stainless line drop for it and it will fit as well as be a better quality line hook for your gun.
