C- unfortunately REI just had their paddle day at Natoma in late April. Aquan Sports in the Bay Area has a demo event scheduled for 13-14 June. Adventure Sports (Kayak City) used to run a rental fleet on Natoma at Negro Bar, back in 2005 they had WS tarpons and OK prowlers and a few other models that you could swap out and test paddle.  Don't know if they are still doing that or what models they might currently have available - could give them a call.  Many of the kayak shops will have a paddle test day so might check with additional shops in the Sac area and Bay Area. If you've got an idea on what you're looking for then you might be able to hook-up with some folks here and test a model.  Lots of good info on this site under the Choosing a Kayak and Kayak Manufacturers forums.

Good luck!

I have found that most shops that rent kayaks on the water will let you try different boats for $20. Good investment to make sure you get one that you will be happy with.
