In case you're interested in taking the freediving class with David Laird at Wallin's, I just finished with that one day course yesterday. It costs a $100. He taught surface dive techniques, a couple of fin strokes, basic breathe holding technique, how to reach the bottom of the pool (12') without weight belt, etc... He also covered equipments briefly. Overall, I think the course is only useful if you're a total nube like myself. For a $100, I got to confirm some of the things I know with a pro, and dispelled some of the myths.

He's thinking about setting up a one-day ocean clinic in July. I think it's gonna be in Monterey. If you're interested, keep an eye out for it at Wallin's, or ping me. Date not yet confirmed. David was trying to gauge interest.

Wallin's is having a Fun Dive event this weekend at Van Damme. It'd be my first ab dive. I'd be looking for dive buddy soon. Look out. ;)

One thing I'd like to add is that the course requires the Freedive book from Terry Maas and David Sipperly. The course did not really cover anything not mentioned in the book. I think the book by itself is a worth while investment.

Are any more classes being offered this year?  The website lists the may 3rd class as the last one this year.

I think he's teaching one down here in Santa Cruz in mid May. Check Aquasafari's website to see.  My dad is taking that class, and I may try to sit in if that is possible.

hm... I didn't realize that. Try emailing him to see if there's any more class this year. I know Wallin's website is not always up to date.

I know it's a tad late, but David is offering freediving classes through Wallin's again, as well as some Ocean clinics. Current schedule is up to date (plus you can register online), and have heard some great feedback from recent students.

You can show me how you roll Andy!  I'll bring the beer and tuna sashimi bro!  I think Ernie is a pro now.  He even makes his own guns now.
