Ariel, you beat me to the punch bro. That fight was unbelievable. Ricky only lasted
two rounds and got knocked out three times. Twice on the first round and finally
on the second round, he just couldn't get up from the third knock out punch.

In Vegas it was nuts! The soccer hooligans were awestruck with all the Pinoys running crazy in the Casinos!

LOL.....NEVER.

My dad was a boxing nut, and as a kid I got to go to many great boxing matches...Sugar Ray Leonard, Hearn, etc...basically whoever came to town to beat up on Sacramento's favorite punching bag...Pete Ranzany.  I was always a great time with pops.

However, I have loved MMA since before it was socially acceptable. Now when I watch boxing, it seems so one dimensionally with no legs, no ground game...dare I say boring?  I am down with Art!

After teaching martial arts for over 20 years (I stoped teaching about 10 years ago) you'd think I would like MMA better but I can't say I do.
Most people just want to see two guys beat the crap out of each other instead of real skill. I'm not saying MMA fighters are not skilled. I definitely know better than that. But the majority of what I have seen are guys with very little true 'skill' seeing who is tougher by just throwing down. A lot of it is just slop. I can see that in a bar on a Friday or Saturday night.
Watching a few of the Pacquino fights on Youtube makes me appreciate his skills even more.
Focused punches, slipping punches by fractions of an inch then countering, knowing what's coming before the guy even throws it at a pace unmatched in MMA; that's the stuff I like to see.
Leonard, Hearns, Haggler, Duran, Ali, Foreman, Frazier and yes even Tyson; those were the days.
If you like MMA better then we agree to disagree.

I agree about the skill level.  MMA is newer so the bar is not as high as boxing where the craft has been honed for ages.  I just like the intensity and versatillty/diversity of opponents in MMA.

lol....when I think of boxing vs mma I think of the one gloved assasin who tapped to a gracie non choke :smt003

I grew up with boxing too, my old man drug me down to the Event Center every other weekend for pro and amatuer fights. Seen alot of great fights there and watched all the pay per views. I still watch boxing but can't say I've been excited to watch a fight in a loooooong time and that isn't likely to change.  I still watch boxing but most of it is on ESPN classic.  Boxing is pretty much done.

I'm not all that jazzed on the meathead fans either but you get that in Boxing also.  In MMA they're easy to spot though.  There's a couple different specimens: the early twentys guy with a xsmall tapout shirt, usually worn in conjunction with straight brimmed hats and sun glasses when they're indoors. There's late thirty's guy with a goatee and beer belly.....also wearing a tapout shirt but xxl and under a leather biker vest cause riding harley's seems to be tre chic also....they're hair is usually greased back but they wear sunglasses indoors as well. Avoid them at all costs lest you like hearing ignorant fight comments all night.

I also avoid guys with mullets....don't know why but nothing good ever happens when a mullet is around.
