"Poosting"   :smt005  I love the new evolution of our on-going little fun with those "Japanese American terms", if I may, and I think we all owe Ken Kickfish thanks for providing loads of laughs and good hearted fun.  Sincerely, Ken, each time someone speaks of a booster or a poocher you are being honored for your own contributions here.

So, Ben, you didn't believe me when I said it was a jack-smelt?   :smt044  FYI:  "Ghost" is often a reference to the elusive and ghost-like WSB.  It's amazing how much you can learn from all of our sharing and lively discussions, and, as my mentor bluekayak is teaching me, a little mystery in a post adds a special quality if not just providing peace of mind that there won't be a scandalous debate over what some may see as an indiscretion.

Nice one, everyone.   :smt001

:smt005 I'm really, really green... just not quite *that* green.

Lively discussions indeed. But what else would you expect from a bunch of folks whose primary commonality is chasing fish in tupperware? That has to take you to some interesting places :happy8:

this website lives and dies by reports.

if you complain about a lack of pictures or lack of detail, or anything at all really, all you are doing is killing the goose that lays the golden eggs when it comes to this website.

now there's enough logic to put me in a timeout!  i do hope that this site has more than just reports to keep it alive, but do buy into the comment as a whole.
thanks john

Brendan -

Thanks for the report and WTG on the WSB. I always forget to target them because I am having too much fun with rockfish and lingcod. A nice reminder that they are out there. Will bring some WSB tackle on my next trip. As far as not giving more details, I am fine with that for the following reasons...

1. You wrote a really nice article on fishing BS which has more than enough details for a newbie to get started. I still refer to the article and appreciate the fact that you were willing to share it with us.  :smt006

2. Half the fun of kayak fishing BS is finding new places to fish and learning how to fish them. Of course realizing that you and Chef have already been there and done that.  :smt005

3. If you did post the location, it might encourage people who may not have the skills to fish there safely to try and then you may end up with another unfortunate incident like the one at OAP.

BTW, feel free to PM me the GPS coordinates. Just kidding.  :smt044 Glad you are back in the saddle. See you out there.

Dude, are you serious?

Um, if I know PJ that comment was entirely tongue in cheek.

Just remember if it sounds crazy, it’s probably just an impenetrable sarcasm developed during the MLPA process. I blame Dick Cheney for this.

Hey all-
 :smt006
Very interesting the way this discussion has unfolded. Thanks for the support, where due!... I'm gonna stick to this, tho: some secrets are meant to be kept, and I was told to keep this one in particular by the local pirates crew... If I hadn't, the bite would be dead by now, with every PBer and new yakker showing up to decimate the secret spot with their own secret jigs... And with the weather the way it is, they're probably dispersed by now. The ghosties are incredibly hard fish to catch anyway, at least up here where they only bite int he grey hours, if not the night (gotta get up really really early-hope that points some of you in the right direx)... It was all a culmination of lessons learned, secret spots explored, and local intel!...

Now here's my opp to stand on my soapbox. Please excuse me if I sound a bit protective.

Look at the beautiful mystic south coast of Big Sur... I spent 4 years exploring this remote and treacherous section of coast, guiding trips for dirt cheap, spending the summer at my friends ranch above Lucia, learning the ups and downs, catching my first norcal bonito out of PV last year (12 lbs!),  and after awhile the cat got out of the bag... So I decided to write an article so that the safety issues were properly noted before someone got blown out to sea-and for a bit of guide service promo. I had my own issues with seeing the secret spot blown up (some of ya may remember). Now everytime I go down there I run into a crew of fishermen pulling their boats up and down the cliffside... Last summer I found tons of fishing garbage down there as well. I've even noticed a drop in the quality and size of lings and reds at that spot compared with 9 years ago. My homie who lives down there says there are people going out of that spot all the time now... If everyone who fishes there takes a limit, and highgrades 30 or 40 more fish with ripped lips and distended swim bladders, soon enuff that spots going to become like any of the spots in Monterey or Carmel, especially now that slimekilns closed. After all that I'm a bit hesitant to disclose my secrets.
Anyhow, its good to be back up online and alive!.. Nothing but love for all the crew, even those who may have been a bit disgruntled, or jealous, of my big fish. Its alright Steve and rockhopper, you'll both catch one someday. Just do your research and put in your time. Still don't understand the hatin, but thats alright. I may guide a few trips this summer. For some of those who didn't know I developed a gnarly heart condition a few years back, could have died, and am now back in full effect, married to a smokin babe who supports my fish addicition, healthier then ever, and ready to fish all summer long!..

Peace... and let this be the beginning of an amazing season filled with big fish for all!.

Never met you but as one those dumbasses who would have been blown out to sea, I thank you for your article :smt001

And as a guy who had a less gnarly but still scary to me heart condition, who is now healed, and also married to a hot babe who supports my fish addiction, I toast our health, our understanding wives, and our love of fishing

You sound like a criminal with that post. How do you think they catch corrupt politicians? Here is a little hint....rats/snitches/testifiers
