Dude!  You're getting hardcore!  Please try it out before bringing it on the ocean!  Nice work.   :smt001

Want to try it out in Benicia together? Bought the sailing kit for my Hobie Sport but haven't try it out yet!

It's not going to work at all unless you have a rudder. BTDT.
Not sure by looking at the design but a sail also needs to pivot to be effective.
I don't mean to rain on your parade. I am only saying this based on my own experience. I bought a universal sail for my P15. Did not work they way I hoped at all. As someone wrote on my post about that fiasco, "It's like having a car and engine w/o a steering wheel." That is a line that will stay with me forever.
When you do try it out make sure you have someone with you and make sure it isn't too windy. The last thing you need is to try and take it down in a good wind, fall off and have it take off on you.
Good luck. Looking forward to the post.

I am worried that it may be a bit large. You really don't need much surface area. I notice my speed picks up if I just turn my paddle blades into the wind. I was considering a small kite like sail (like a super mini version of a kite board). I too think a rudder is key

looks cool...good luck :smt002
I find that if wind is on my back I don't need help moving.  It when it wind is in front that I need help.

Does the sail have a way to lower/drop when you need to paddle back upwind? It might be a good idea to have someone with you when you give it a test run. Good luck.

Tote, I missed that action...  couldn't you use your paddle as a rudder?

I watched a group of sit inside kayaks flying in the elkhorn slough holding open umbrellas.  Based on that your sail should give you some serious horsepower!
