That is an amazing pic of a leaping Manta.

I had no idea they could get so much air.

I knew they lept, but jeez louise!

That guy is the MJ of the Manta world.

when I was in the Persian gulf, these things were jumping all around the ship as far as the eye could see in every direction.....Thousands and thousands of them. I never saw any come straight out like that before. they usually came up and did flips...

I saw these in Loreto during my trip to Baja in May.  At first we saw big splashes off in the distance and we thought the fish were feeding like crazy.  On closer inspection they were small rays. BTW, they're not the huge 8 ft wide manta rays, rather they're about 2 ft across.  They get about 4 ft of air on each leap.  At one point a huge school was "flying" by and I really wanted to get a picture.  However, our only camera was currently underwater taking a photo of a sea star or something.  By the time I got to Adam, waited for him to surface and got the camera the rays were gone.

Saw those last week in Baja ( De Las Animas).  Only saw one at a time, never a school.  Definitely cool looking.  From where I was looking they seemed to be about 1.5 ft in diameter.
