Back on the move...started at 220, 210 last week, 208.5 this week, still having pic logistical issues.  Ate well and snuck in a few commute rides and one 20 mile crusher.

Moved the dial little this week as well.  Started at 308, last week 283.5, now 281.5.

Still mostly just keeping my eating in check and chasing after the kidlets after work.

Lest you think i dropped off...

I'm still flat 141.6 and about 16.5%...

I did a CRUSHING ride sat, and am adding more miles each week, so let's see if those big climbs start to drop the fat %

Last week 179.2, this week 175.4.  Start 194.7.  Closing in on 20lbs and at 11%.  That's a big drop for this week, but the last three I was flat for check-in (I was losing throughout, just the sampled days happened to be around the same weight).

damn this is getting discouraging.  In the last 7 days did a 40 mile road ride, 20 mile mountain ride, killer stair repeats at seacliff beach (10 times), lifted 3 times, walked at least 2.5 miles on the lift days and got one fast 5 mile walk in.

Net result, I gained 2 friggin pounds :smt011

still eating the way I did the first weeks when the weight was dropping slowly.  I would love to say its all muscle, but dont think so.  286.5 to start, currently 277.5

any ideas on how to get a slug of a metabolism turned up? Cant run, knees cant take it at my age/weight.

any ideas on how to get a slug of a metabolism turned up? Cant run, knees cant take it at my age/weight.

My regimen for getting my weight in line (firing up metabolism) has been:

• Eat high fiber, high protein foods in small amounts 6 or more times per day.

• Cutting out HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup) from my diet. HFCS hinders the pancreas from producing insulin which in turn makes your body store calories instead of burning. *not easy as HFCS is in freakin everything!

• Putting on some bulk muscle as it burns calories 24/7. This means pushup/pullup/sit up and light weight lifting. As anyone who knows me, I'm no muscle man but a muscle base will do well to shed calories.

• Also making sure to change my workout regularly as you can plateau and start to burn muscle. Stamina based workouts don't work too well as you plateau quickly and start to burn muscle again.

So pretty much all well timed nutrition with some various sports added. After you've reached your ideal Body Mass Index (BMI) and body fat percentage you can maintain your metabolism by keeping active in a variety of sports and eating those same high fiber, high protein foods.

Z

*PS and don't forget to take a break from all this and have one meal a week that can be anything you like. Just don't go nuts! ;)

Make sure you stay around 70-75% of your vo2max or you won't metabolize stored fat, but you will gain major cardio benefits.

so-- not that i watch my own advice, but doing two different workouts in a day can really help to rev up the calorie burner. As sean said,  DEFINITELY watch the heart rate if you want to burn fats...just barely ever so out-of-breath. One more that works, but i would probably test it on yourself a bit is to do your first workout in the AM pre-breakfast. Supposedly, this can teach your body to burn fat over a long term. i used to do this training for rock climbing, but can't do it training for cycling...no idea why

I've gained a pound back. That's what I get for getting crazy over the weekend.
It was so hard to hold back when the BBQ grill was going all day long with all
sorts of good food being cooked in front of you.
