I'll be going out of the Santa Cruz harbor on Sunday morning.  I plan to grab some live bait.  There's a lot of talk about some butts being taken in front of the harbor, 30 to 65 feet (see attached link).  I'll give it a go and report later.  Maybe I'll see some of you(?).

Bassmanben and I hit up the area between capitola and the cement ship for nada. I couldn't even raise any bait. So we turned into a day of re entry and launch/landing practice at new brighton. Great weather once the fog burned off.

good luck.  My halibut hunting has been in vain.  If Steelhead is the fish of a thousand casts, then for me halibut is the fish of a thousand launches.  Maybe Helen of Troy was just a butt.
