They are not lead filled but they got some heft to them. I chose dense heavy wood on purpose. I sure we can swing a trade :smt002

Can I get one with a little LED embedded in the whackin' end so it lights up when I dispatch my catch like my kid's shoes when he runs on pavement?   :smt005

Nice work, Eric.

Nice work Eric, MattS made me one. :smt004

I wish. The lathe I have only has a 18-20inch bed between centers so it would be a real small bat....Well, like what I just made. MattS and I seem to be trying to one up each other. I need him to show me that wrap he did on his knockers.

Those look good ewb!  What kind of woods did you use?

The rope handles are easy to do.  It is just called a french whipping.  Basically just half hitches run up the handle.  I cut in a long groove for the rope to lay into, and try to judge the depth to make the handle level with the wood when tied up.  I use a fid to pull the rope tight to avoid rope burns.  I learned that the hard way.  I usually use cotton for traditional rope work, but nylon is tougher and burns the skin without a pulling aid.

They are not hard and I would be glad to show you.  I want to try a double whip on one as well.  The turks heads are really not too hard either, just takes some time.

I found some gaff hooks the other day.  I want to do some nice gaffs.  I have about 34" between centers on my lathe.  I should be able to do some 2-2 1/2 foot gaffs.

I wouldn't say we are one up'ing each other; rather we are feeding off each other's ideas and inspiration.  A cool thing really and keeps a person inspired.

Good work!  Matt
