I just got a new Revolution and need to put at least one rod holder on.  Can anybody advise me what kind of mounts to get and where and how to install them?

Thanks,

Martin

Hello Martin, I don't know if you had a chance to take your new kayak out yet. If
I were you, I would take the kayak for a leisure ride then decide where to mount
the rod holder. This is how I installed my rod holder by Scotty, I hope it helps a
little.

Thanks Jed.  I will probably fish the first couple of times without a holder to try and determine the best placement.  I installed the holder on my Outfitter the same way and location as you.  The Revo doesn't have the trays like the Outback and the Outfitter.  It may be a little more difficult to find a flat surface in the right location.  I'm hoping somebody with a Revo has figured it out.

Although I pedal the Adventure and not the Revo, I think the forward layout is similar, specifically the area forward of the mesh compartments.  Anyhoo, you can see I used a RAM mount on one side and a Scotty flushmount on the other side.

Hope this helps.

Won't lie, the placement forced me to purchase extenders so that I could actually pedal, but I really like the positioning.

Thanks Michael.  I just ordered the ram mounts and I believe it's the model 117 rod holder.  It sits up higher than the standard one and has an additional pivot point.  Maybe I won't need to add the extensions?  I'm going to fish the yak a couple of times without the holder to make sure I pick the best location.  If the weather cooperates, I'll be hunting Butts at Oyster Point Friday.

I got the smallest Scotty mount I could, the round one.  I will find the part #.  It just barely fits on the little flat spot on the gunwale.   I put it on the left side so I could fish naturally right-handed.  Then I got an extender.  You then get it moved in the right place.

Not familiar with that RAM mount so I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures, especially considering I have an OB to rig.
