Adam and I slow trolled north of the pier, past all of the pilings, then hooked around and did a fast south drift in the 20ft range down to the point. Battled the tide for another slow troll north of the pilings then we did a nice (slower) drift in the 10' - 12' range all the way back to the point. A few more point to pier and back sweeps through the drop-offs and we called it a day. Bait was shiners on three way rigs.

I got one nice pulldown first thing in the morning, but that was it. Birds were sporadically diving all day. Most of the boats out there, including a party boat (El Dorado) were trolling. I didn't notice anyone catching any fish, but I wasn't paying too much attention to any of the boats. I bet the bite took off when the tide came back in. The whole area was starting to look really, really fishy but by that time I was beat and burnt.

Few 'buts were taken from the pier. No pics this time. Sorry.

Thanks for the report. It was blowing from the east here in Petaluma this am and I thought it might be windy at Paradise. I'll bet ARW was alittle calmer. Anyway good for you for trying. Someone on coastside reported a 38in. halibut caught at Paradise on the troll and I thought about that one all night. Did you pick up shiners at LL or did you catch them before fishing. It's still a little cold. Do you know what the water temp was today? Thanks, Craig

Whoops...forgot to mention this was Saturday.

We both bought shiners from LL. Water temp was mid-60's.

Nice try Rock Hopper. Being that the current there it much stronger than ARW,
how long of a leader are you running from the three way swivel? And how much
weight are you using? Thanks in advance for the tip.

Jedmo,

I usually use 2 - 3oz for halibut drifting, but we were jammin' yesterday so I had to use a 5oz banana sinker.

For leaders I just use about an arm's length of 14lb Berkeley Vanish. I've heard a lot of folks say they don't like Vanish, but I've caught basically all of my Mendo stripers on it, and have caught tons of fish from my buddy's boat with it and have never had an issue with it. I just use it for leader, though, and prefer Momoi for my main line when using mono.

Thanks for letting me know the temp. I will try to hook up with you next time you head down to PP.

paradise was just that, except for the lack of fish. the drift was 1.3mi out in the 20-30' range..so we headed to the shallower waters, at .8 -.5mph a drift. I did see one 'butt get hoisted&shown off. Dustin saved my arse, i forgot my wheels and he had my back....thanks Bro!!

Keep hittin' it soon or later they'll be in there. I like to use 30lb leaders, those halis have very sharp teeth. They can easily cut through thinner line...

Nah, from my older yellow P15 'cause its got the FF. Still haven't had a chance to paddle the T15, but just got a nice chunk of cash from the IRS (for a change) so I'll be getting a new FF for it and will be getting my other sunrise P15 pimped out as soon as I get my transducer back from Humminbird.

Sure wish I had a rudder on Saturday, though, so I'm lookin' forward to that with the Trident.
