I am going to look at a used Prowler Trident 15 angler, it has a rod pod but no rudder. It was a rental yak for about six months and is supposed to be like new stored in the shade ect..  The asking price is $665.00 it is blue.  Not my first choice in color.  Does this sound like a good deal?  Is there anything I should look out for when buying a used yak?

Sounds like a hell of a deal. I'll let SBD and a few others chime in. But I seem to recall inspecting the scupper hole area. That seems to be the place where leaks occur.

that is a fantastic price!  Just get it!  haha

I have not heard of any scupper hole leaks in the Trident, maybe I just havn't been paying attention, but it's never been brought to my attention, and I'm pretty dialed in on the Tridents.

Sorry I didn't mean to imply that they leak via the scupper holes. I just hear that it's the most likely place for all yaks if it happens at all. I gotta T13 so I wanna be wrong :smt003

Thats seems like a great price.  Scuppers are were problems occur in any yak, but if its been used by a business it shouldn't be a leaker.  Make sure the bottom isn't warp, dented, or otherwise f'd up and then grab it!  Thats a heck of a deal.

I would take 600 in cash with me and say this is it right now no more phone calls. Bring your back up 65 but I would bet he'll take it. I found one for 650 last Jan. and I thought that was a good deal. Never pay asking price unless abosolutley neccesary.

No not from adventure sport.

I went down and picked it up today.  The yak looks like it may have been in the water about 3 times from a sand beach.  There is virtualy no wear on the bottom of the yak. The bottom is smooth and straight no warping the scupper holes look fine no damage all the hatches are in place.  There are some very light scratches on the sides looks like he rubbed against a piling with barnachles on it. all the rigging is in place.  The two side handles are still wrapped in the factory plastic he did not bother to rip it off.

I asked why he was selling it he rents out his yaks he has a bunch of big tandem sit insides (which are thrashed) and only a few singles and only one trident 15.    He said he did not think it was as stable as he had hoped it would be. It looks like it is easer for him to rent out a tandem.

So I have a new Blue Prowler Trident 15 with rod pod and an old kayak seat.  I am very happy with the price of $665.00
