Today was by far the best day bass fishing I have ever had.

I got on the water around 10:00 am.  I fished in the tules and weeds  and finally got my first fish on a Senko around noon.  It measured 16 inches and was going to be my first AOTY fish entered.  I looked all over my kayak and couldn't find my camera  :smt012.   I left it in my truck.  I was about a mile away at this point and debated whether or not to go back and get it.  I finally decided to go get it "just in case."  - It turned out to be a great decision.

A while later I made it back to where the first fish was caught. The wind was howling at this point so  I would find a protected spot, make and few casts, and then move onto the next protected spot spot.

At about 4:00 pm with only one fish caught so far I decided to make my way back to the truck.  The wind had died down a bit and was going to blow at my back all the way back to the marina.  The wind puched me as I guided myself along the levee bank with my rudder.  I also changed my approach and decided to throw a crank bait at the rip rap.  After about the 10th cast, this happened . . . . (it measured 21 inches and was my personal best LM)

. . . . . Once that fish was let go.  I went about another 20 feet and no more than three casts later I got this one:

It measured about 23.5 inches and is my personal best.

Duuuuuude!!!  Those are awesome fish.  Good job sticking with it despite the wind.  I tend to throw temper tantrums when it blows like that.

Nice fish Jason.  Glad you got on a great bite out there.  Cranking rip-rap is one of my favorite tactics.
