Playing " Hooky " At Clear Lake

Sudden change of plans, My Boys were to go on a 2 day overnight field trip at the Monterey Bay Aquarium with their school, well that didn't work out, Something about MLPA's in their Lobby... So, take advantage of opportunities when ya find them. You got time, I Have time, priceless, Called Hydrospider and let him know we were on our way in the rain.

Got up late yesterday afternoon just as it started to clear and got in about 20 minuites before dark, but only manage a dink, while The Fellas worked on their Video Gaming skills  ...

 Next Morning, we meet up with " The Spider " and it is slow... The Fellas hung in there and eventually found a SurfBoard...   They were pretty Happy with that and towed it back to camp,... Hydro manage to pick up one and it was back to the Cabin for some refreshments...

 The Boys weren't interested in another run in the Heat of the Day so put them back on " Gaming Duties and Hydro and I went to Find the Fish... and we did....  

 Hydro threw a Senko and I was dropshotting a 6' robo,  think we picked up 8 nice Toads....

 Can't be "Negleto Dad" Forever, so Back to Cabin and Resuit up The Fellas for another run...

  Before, we were running the Minnows on a strait Bobber with leader to make it easy for the guys, but now with Hydro's and I run, we now knew the Toads were hanging in about 10' of water.

so re-rigged the Fellas minnows to run "Mendo Style" with a egg sinker to get them down there...

That's the ticket

 " Whammo!!!! "  Kuba's Reel starts Screamming!!!!  The Way it fought I thought it was much bigger, but it looked to be about a 3lbder....  OK Noah,  lets do it...

Pinned a Huge 4" minnow to both of their rods... and OMG... NOAH'S Rod Goes Major BENDO....

 I'm estastic, This is a Monster....  Went for a Good Fight for about 3 minutes and just comes off...   (Check the Bendo on the shots)

 Noah's Fine...   I'm HeartBroken....

 Don't tell anyone, But I think this place is ready to " Bust Open!!!!! ".....

Id been wanting to get back out in soda bay for awhile and D and the guys were just the inspiration I needed.
Temps are low so we decided to head over to a known warm spring to see if they were stacked up on the warmer water. Turned out to be the right call.

Don, what a pop you are. You have your sons set up real nice. letting them have thier space when they want it is very admirable also. Plus you got to fish with Terry. Way cool. Terry is a great guy. Only met him once on New Years Day but you can tell with some people right away. Your son has a nice hog in the net. Ihave to go check AOTY now and see your bass. Congrats.

Terry is that senko set up wacky style? I am just learning bass lingo. Duh.

Strong work! I keep meaning to head up to Clear Lake, but I haven't managed it yet. You're post is increasing my motivation to make it happen! 

   Don, That's pretty cool you get to spend multiple days at Clear Lake with the boys and get to hookup with Terry. The Clear Lake experience always has you dreaming of when you can return.

Great report - way to get the guys on the fish and yourself on some quality R&R.

The sign by the tub is pretty ominous. Im no geo guy but the gases may compete with oxygen for the same receptors. Prolonged exposure or adding adult beverages may put you down. Its not a hot spring just warmer than the rest of the bay.
I havnt lived up here all that long but ive never seen anyone soaking there.

Thanks for the great report and pics.  I'm glad you got the boys into some fish up there.  I couldn't read the warning (but I got the message!) on the hot tub, what exactly did it say?
