rolled out of bed for a late start.  so hard to get up when you sneak a day off! :smt005  out on water at 9:30 or so.  brought 12 ghosties looking for a sturgeon bite.  didn't want to paddle far, too lazy.  set up maybe a hundred yards from the marker buoys and dropped the bait.  felt some nibbling, definitely not a sturgeon tap.   yanked the rod and i see a silver streak come up.  thank goodness its not a mud marlin! :smt005  25 inch striper.  my first one ever!  setup again and felt some nibbling again.  set the hook, expecting another striper.  its a sturgeon!  realized that as soon as he started to pull line and took to the air.  had fun for a bit but obviously not a keeper.  feeling good! :smt001   ran out of bait and energy so called it a day at 1pm.

the weather started out pretty cloudy but cleared up by 11.  nice and toasty out there.  not much wind to speak of.  no one else except a lone pb that came out around 11.

sorry no pics.  no camera on my phone.

WTG on the striper Andy. Too bad no picture. BTW, did you mark any baitfish in the water? Just wondering because halibut season is around the corner.

Nice job on the striper. Too bad the stergie was under but sounds like a fun day on the water. Time to start saving for a camera.

jedmo,
didn't see any bait fish on the fishfinder.  i think i marked some striper schools.  marks were way too big to be bait.  butt fishing sounds good(and tasty)!

Andy WTG dude. You were off the water just before the peak of the hightide. I was there this past Tuesday notice lots of bait being pushed up and boiling on the surface. It had to be schools of striper. I talked to Mike over at Mike's Bait he told me that his buddies were catching stripers in front of Bayfarm & ARW  trolling Broken-back Rebels this past Sat.

I know there are still lot of sturgeon to be caught at OAP. You just gotta be patient. Stripers are a good bonus while sturgeon fishing.

May go soak some ghosties on Sat.
