Well, I finally went and did it...

I bought a new yak hauler about a month ago!  Got a pre-owned '07 Subaru Outback Sport   :smt007  It's a lot more fun to drive than my old Accord Hatchback and has the capacity to do camping and kayaking that I needed.

And then I picked up my new T-13 from Fisherman's Warehouse on Tuesday  :smt044  Got a Mango Angler Ed, which I have been looking to buy since last year, but finally got the $$$ to spend on it.  (Thanks again Eric for the sweet hookup! :smt006 )

So today I had my first chance to get my new ride's feet wet...

I headed out to Calero after work since it's easy to get too from my house and there wasn't much daylight left...

After paying $19.00 FOR 3 HOURS of time on the water...

I went through inspection without any issues  :smt005 Yep... its new!  Confirmed that they will be having staff at the 4 South Bay lakes starting on Tax Day.  Ranger I spoke with said he works at Stevens Creek and looks forward to seeing more kayakers there.

Felt a bit tippy at first, and I was thinking, wtf?!?!?!  :smt009

Then I took my net out of the flush mount and hung it off the back and things were a LOT better...

I headed off in search of my first fish for the new boat... and what do you know? I didn't get skunked after all!

Anyway... Was caught to the left of the pump house (i guess you call it that) where some dudes were tossing minnows into the stream but having no luck...

When I landed there was a float tuber packing up his gear, said he only got a couple hits, no take downs.

I asked him how much he had to pay to get in and he said NOTHING!  Then told me he has a parking pass, around 60$ annually, but that they don't charge him for the launch, and dont make him go through inspection!    :smt011

Well, I had a good time, but I doubt I'll be paying these fee's for a couple hours of fishing again...

One last pic before I headed home...

Nice kayak!  I really love those trident series.  What about your net was making it tippy?  I do notice with my scupper plugs in the P13, it is much tippier than without.  It seems to sit lower without the scupper plugs.  Nice to do some catching on your first launch!
