Rapala minnows, absolutely.....

But none of you guys have mentioned any kinda flatfish.
I've never been able to make flatfish work for me.
My dad swore by them and would haul out good solid catches.

Who swears by flatfish these days?
Flatfish have a    b e a u t i f u l   action....
Flatfish feel    w o n d e r f u l     through the rod-tip....
Flatfish come in blue and green, yellow & gold, with and without spots...

You guys got flatfish in your boxes?

I think it would be fun to go somewhere with no gear, with the intent of finding a snagged lure and a wad of line and catching a fish by handlining it.

Have you ever forgot a tackle box and had to get by with what you happen to have stashed in your vehicle?  I usually have a couple lures in the pickup, as I'm sure most of us do.

At Henry Coe, I rode my Mtn. Bike with my gear and accidentally snapped my rod tip off on the way in. I lashed it back on with some mono and a band-aid and fished the whole day. I ended up with the usual mess of small bass and big crappies. Very satisfying.

Okay, here goes:
Senko, any natural color, rigged inline weedless
BabyBrushHog on the dropshot or pitching head.
                       SnagProof Frog!
                       Ripping a Pointer Minnow
                       White/chart spinnerbait
Bring it on!
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

It's probably very dependent on where you fish.

Out here in the foothill lakes:

darthead roboworm in Prizm shad
dropshot roboworm in Prizm shad, Moring Dawn, or Aaron's Magic
football head jig w/ hula grub or rubber skirt-n-trailer as long as it's green pumpkin
split shot roboworm leach in Purple Punisher or Prizm Shad

But this year I'm going to try and incorporate rip baits, Carolina rigs, and slow rolled spinnerbaits to broaden my current narrow view of Folsom Lake.

However, the top five "all-time" best bass baits IMHO are:

spinnerbait
buzzbait
texas rigged worm
jig-n-pig (or jig-n-new fangled plastic trailer)
lipless crankbait

I would bet that a majority of the tournaments have been won on one of those and most of the state and world records as well.

tight lines

Wow......so not ONE.....of all the NCKA fishermen are running flatfish...??..!!..??..

How can a lure that looks THAT good.....not catch fish?

I mean, a LMB will hit a "Bass Tandem"......!!!!.......
A fish that would hit a Bass Tandem should hit...Barbie Dolls...

Man, condensing 1/2 my garage into just 5 baits...impossible.  I will say this, the Rapala minnow has consistently caught more varieties of fish (LMB included) at more times of the year, in more locations than any other bait I've fished.  It's my go to.
