Well, the weather has made cycling a no-go, but I did stick to my diet except at the AOTY party...down one more pound.  Started at 220, now 213...a pound a week.  I wish it was faster, but I'm glad its still going the right way.

Sean -

1-2 lbs per week is actually good because it means that you are making modest lifestyle changes that you should be able to sustain for many years. More rapid weight loss is usually followed by weight gain because the lifestyle changes are not sustainable. Here are some things to watch out for as you approach the 2 month mark...

1. 2 months is where a lot of people give up.

2. The more weight you lose, the more your metabolic rate slows to compensate. Therefore it becomes more difficult to lose weight. To adjust for this, you will need to slightly increase your physical activity or diet goal each week. The adjustment does not need to be large, probably only 50-100 kcal/day.

Anyway, you guys are doing great and alot of the guys at the AOTY were much thinner.

Week seven included  a couple nights on the treadmill and the one day I did get out on the water consisted of a 1/2 mile peddle then sitting on my arse for a good six hours. With work being the pits I am attempting to get more sleep while I can which seems to leave me more lethargic rather than rested....go figure.
Started week one over 205....week seven 201.8. Not the pound a week I was looking for but still going in the right direction.

Start 194.7
w1 194
w2 192.2
w3 187.8
w4 188.4
w5 187.8
w6 186.0
w7 185.8

8.9lbs

Getting into diminishing returns, probably need to start expending that extra 50-100 kcal/day.  So far I've just been getting by purely on caloric reduction, mainly eliminating stuff like pizza and pasta for the most part.  I've probably saved around $200 on not eating out with the family and eating cheaper lunches.

After hitting the 20lb. mark I took it easy this week but stayed with the healthy eating and actually managed to loose 2 more lbs. Started at 253 now at 230 with a goal of 220. By the way has anyone tallied the total weight loss of all participants combined

I'm being kept in a steady holding pattern over 195 Pound International Airport.

To back up what Scott was saying about drop-outs, by my counts, 29 weighed in at baseline. Last week there were 19. That's a 1/3rd dropout rate! Tho' to be honest I expected it to be more. BLOTY has definitely helped me keep going.
