I'll be launching sometime between 0700 and 0730 for a trout trolling adventure  :smt005
Company is welcome, especially since my wife won't fish in the rain!  :smt003

Been hit or miss for me recently at DV, but think that may have been due to the hot weather recently.  Maybe they are more active now with all the storms rolling through.

Sounds like fun, maybe find Valentines Cove on Valentines Day!  I'll try and make it!

You guys are either single or have major WAF accounts that are about to drained - either way, I am insanely jealous.  Good luck gentlemen.

LOL, not single, but my wife and I have never really been into Valentines Day.
Maybe it's because we try to make every day that we're together special  :smt008 :smt044 :smt078

Seriously though, I'll come home in the afternoon and make her a nice dinner, but otherwise we don't really do flowers or gifts or anything like that. But if I bring home a nice trout with orange/pink meat for the grill then she'll be really happy. I guess I'm lucky that way!

Looks like I'll be joining you all, along with a first-timer/future NCKA'er.

So at least one of us will catch fish. :smt044

Oh no! Don't bring a noob! He'll be the only one catching fish!  :smt005
j/k the more the merrier of course.

I was also over on the fishsniffer lurking around and noticed they have a get-together planned at Del Valle this weekend, so be prepared for LOTS of boats on the water despite the poor weather.  :smt012

Sounds like us, we've always kept it simple.  Although recently my wife started using Quicken and realized that we spent almost $400 on Hallmark cards last year so it was an easy decision to not spend a dime on V-Day.

Maybe that is my downfall. :smt009   :smt003

Unfortunately my wife HATES fish. :smt011   I swear that if she ate it she wouldn't resent me spending (read: wasting) time on the water.

FJ, I think that event is March 14.  I don't think you guys will have a problem.

Question- If raining, how are we going to pass inspection? I might be able to get out of the house. I just have to be home in time for early dinner.
I wouldn't go so far as to call a lingcod filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a lingcod's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

So long as the inside of your kayak is dry, and the outside is free of mud/dirt, then you'll be fine. I've been there a few times in the rain since they started the inspections and they have always said that kayaks need only be clean everywhere and dry inside. How ensuring the dryness of the inside of my yak (which never touches the water) protects the lake from mussels isn't something I understand, but I haven't raised the point!  :smt005

I'll be doing the same as you. I'm getting on the water early, and I'll probably take out by noon or 1:00 pm.

See you all there!  :smt006

Trolling Noob Alert!

Hey Guys - I have most of the equipment that I need to trolling but I am curious, do I need any kind of lead weights to make sure that the flashers stay down?

Thanks for the help!

If you want to use flashers then I would probably use a keel weight, but most of the trout are near the surface this time of year anyhow. I'll be toplining J5 and J7 Rapalas, or maybe a deep diving shad rap if for some reason the fish are deeper than 10', but I doubt I'll need to go to this tactic.
