Picture a dozen or more yaks on Roleez/Wheeleez sand wheels, trudging up the beach cursing my name...  and hours later the same group with ear to ear grins, huge cabs, abs, lings and things, happily hauling home, praising my notion to implement the hardest and potentially most rewarding plan for the afternoon!  Sounds like an epic movie in the making.  I'm in fantasy land...    :smt003

this one diver had sought out a large lingcod at Abalone Point, and he was feeding it!

That is actually pretty common for the meets around here. Another reason to get a handheld GPS.

I just got back from Sacramento yesterday from my propeller head training (math and physics).  I have to finish up part one of the training this next week, and then I am going to start packing!  17 days to go!!!!!!!  I am so excited my reel hand is itching.

I am ready for some salt in my nose, wind in my hair and a huge fish pulling on my rod.

Matt

Guys/Abking - I got 3 square danielson crab pots (fully rigged). Should i bring them? If so, how much line should I set them up with? Happy to donate any keepers to the group meal in exchange for help setting the gear?

Bring them, you can use the leftover from the cleaning station for crab bait.  I can help setting up the gears.  You don't need more than 100ft for each pot unless you venture out much father than the bell buoy.

Couple questions:  without making this into a big debate, what are the best lure/jig colors for rockfish?
What's your favorite scent product for the ocean? Old Spice is a wrong answer!

My guess would be Red and Yellow (look at the Shrimp Fly color) but they will bite anything when hungry  :smt003   For the scent I think Anchovies should be good.
