So let's here what folks are pulling in 2009. Here are my top 5...

1. Rapala JSR5 - silver shad
2. Rapala J-7 - firetiger
3. Rapala SR5 - shad
4. Rapala J-7 - rainbow trout
5. Rapala JSR5 - blue shad

Yeah, I do pull other stuff besides Rapalas, but Rapalas catch more fish for me.  :smt003

For trout trolling, I really like the 1/4oz Lil Cleo in the GNR color. Not sure what the GNR stands for but I like to pretend it's a tribute to Guns N Roses haha. Also, I frequently replace the hook w/a dressed treble.

pulling a grub or other plastic is a good option cause you can go with a single hook.

since santa clara got all their lakes shutdown I dont' know if I will be trolling freshwater anymore which is pretty sad,  :smt010

Does anyone remember those lures called Sonics? My Dad and I used to slay the Bass at Berryessa trolling those around spawning time. I picked some up on Ebay, replaced the trebles with some sickle siwash hooks and guess what? I slayed the Bass at Berreyessa again. Those would have to be my favorite just for sentimental reasons.
The fishing was so good I thought I was there yesterday!

Another Rapala fan...  My all time favorite is the big j9 brokenback, any color.  I have caught bass(smallmouth and largemouth), trout, crappie, and catfish on those.  Best trolled sloooowly.

The shadraps are my second favorite, and will also catch multiple species.

I don't have as much luck trolling metal.
